this New Year holiday 2010 my family and i stayed in a beautiful two bedrooms apt in Barcelona centre, near the beach and Las Ramblas (Jaume 1 and Liceu metro st-ns) and paid about €120 a night for the 3 of us in such high season. we found it through the agency http://www.barcelonarealestate.es/

you can also try to find apt through search engine or through ads or forums and rent it directly at the landlord. I know, that she also gives for rent all her apartment for rent and stays at her friend´s house, but i do not know the price .

The best for a group of friends are hostels or bed and breakfast. They are great specially if you're young. I really recommend them!
